Zone Leaders Conference Sept. 13-14, 2011

Here we are with our faithful group of Zone Leaders.

Here we are gathered together with all our zone leaders Thursday morning before breakfast.  We had some wonderful teaching on Wednesday but didn't get any pictures taken.  (I am slacking!)  Anyway, he gave some wonderful counsel to these leaders.  They will go back to their zones with a new "vision" for the Philippines San Pablo Mission! 

As we are getting ready for a group shot, Elder Surio, our new addition to the office elders, poses a happy face!  He is going to replace elder Torres as the secretarial office elder.  We are pleased to have him.  He loves to work!!

Can you tell the Elder Johnson is sooo excited for ZLC?!  He is our new assistant (AP) that replaced Elder Fonbuena and he has missed his zonemates on Marinduque which is where he was serving as a ZL (Zone leader) before he moved to the office!  He actually loves all the zone leaders (20 of them).  He is a wonderful asset to the office team!!  He and Elder Jerusalem are great together!

Transfer meeting just finished.  Everyone is excited for the changes!

Here is Elder Hansen, one of our elders that is going home.  His parents picked him up and he has been touring around the mission this week.  They came to transfer day and we had them for lunch and had a good visit.  Layne and Katie, do you recognize them?  They were in your ward when you lived over by Highland High School.  Sister Hansen said she was Katie's visiting teacher!  Small world, huh?

Elder Muller is very sad to be leaving! :-) We will miss his fun 

manner and inquisitive mind.  He is a good missionary!

This is Elder Elisan and his family who came to pick him up since 

he only lives about 30 to 45 minutes away from the Mission Home. 

 Elder Elisan is one very fine missionary!  He is so sweet, very

 intelligent, faithful, kind and a very strong testimony.  What a 

dedicated, steady, well balanced, hard working young man he is!  

We will miss him very much!  His family was so nice!

These are missionaries getting their "pouch" mail.  They love 

this part about our visits, because the AP's bring letters

 from home and from around the mission!

These pictures are just some different shots with our missionaries as we vistited their combined district meetings.  They have district meetings every week.  In order for us to get around to all their districts, we had them combine them to be in zones.  They took care of their business and then President gave a wonderful workshop on the Doctrine of Christ.  He compared it to a train in a power point presentation.  The Doctrine of Christ is the engine with the Missionaries (along with the ward/branch council, where possible) are the driving force.  The cars behind the engine are...Attending church, which is the best key indicator that shows that an investigator is progressing, the Book of Mormon, Prayer, and Finding.  As we teach investigators about the doctrine of Christ (which is repentence, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end), we need to make sure that we are remembering to invite them to attend church, to read and study the Book of Mormon (read with them and explain if needed), have the head of the home to kneel and offer a prayer at your 1st lesson, and ask for referals and seek other ways to find new investigators.  If we are not doing these things we are disconnected and not really getting anywhere.  He explained that we are going to work hard in the coming months to improve our teaching skills and instead of a steam engine train...we will become a PMG Express modern locamotive!  The power point was very effective as he taught these principles!

Visit to the San Pablo Palengke!

This is the San Pablo "Palengke"...the farmers market type place of the Philippines!  I am so mad I didn't take more pictures inside!  This place is huge with a huge meat market area, fruits and vegetables, rices, all kinds of food, fabric, and all kinds of clothing and trinkets!  It is a very interesting place!  I will have to go back with Rubi!  George is not the best shopper!  We did, however, find some fabric to have some pants made for him!  Now I need to get him to the tailor!

Tricycles, tricycles everywhere!  They can really cause the traffice jams.  This is the street in front of the Palengke that President and I visited last week.
