Hospital Episode

Brave Elder Diaz in hospital for kidney stones.  He is determined
to always drink lots of water and eat healthy always!  Kidney
stones are not fun!  Elder Diaz is a hardworking assistant to
President Peterson!  We love him and are glad his pain was not
for something more serious!  He is better now!

Visit to Marinduque

When we went for interviews on Marinduque, we decided to spend
the night so we could go to church in one of the Branches there,
the Baco Branch.  We stay at the Villa Aplaya which has a
beautiful setting on the beach.  Here we are having pandasal roll
and pineapple juice before going to church.
Isn't this a beautiful view?  This would be a nice place to sit
and read a good book and just enjoy the view!

Another view...

& another...

See the fishing boat on the clear smooth water!  Yes, it is the
ocean and not a lake!

Zones Interviews, April, 2012

This is during Zone Interviews with the Lipa Zone.  I was talking
to them about their dress and grooming.  I am pictured here
teaching the missionaries how to sew up a hole in the seam of
their pants or skirts when they need to.  It was interesting to see
how easy it was for some (especially the sisters) and very difficult
for others. From the left, we have Sisters Macariola, Marino, and
Tumaliuan, and Elders Yost, Jones, Thompson, Torres, Orro, and
Cabacunan.
Here are three of our elders very determined to figure it out!
Elder Yost and Elder Jones.  Elder Yost is Elder Jones'
Trainer.  They are a great companionship.
Elder Torres, Elder Orro and Elder Cabacunan with a
happy pose!
Sister Folau and Sister Buton are companions.  Sister
Buton is doing the sewing here.  She is doing a great job
being a Trainer for Sister Folau.  They are good together!
Elder Diat and Elder Mayola are so happy with my
juice selection!!
Elder Revillo is proud of his sewing abilities.  Elder
Salisbury is showing off his mail!
Here is Cabuyao Zone Back row, Elders Ayap, Diaz, Natividad,
Delos Santos, Castillo, Sanchez, Bayla, Nance, & Waga. Middle
row, Elders Sollano, Cortez, Lalo, Meniano & Najardo.

Baptism is Darasa, April 22, 2012

This was a baptism in the Darasa Branch in the Lipa Stake.  The
sister that was baptized is on my left. (The only one without a
name tag!) Sister Marino is between President and I with Sister
Tumaliuan on the other end.  It was a sweet experience.
More wanted to get in the Picture!!  These were friends from
the Branch that attended the baptism!

Elder & Sister Boehme's Visit, April 18-19, 2012

Here is a typical view of President "treasuring up"
the words of Christ!
This is a picture in front of a big map of our mission that hangs in
the office.  From the left is Elder & Sister Boehme, who is our Area
Medical Adviser, Sister & President Peterson, and Gilda
(pronounced, Hilda).  Gilda is the X-ray tech in the Area offices in
Manila.  They came down to visit hospitals in our mission to set up
accounts for the good care of our missionaries.  Gilda was very
helpful with her Tagalog and knowledge of the the Technical
facilities needed, such as MRIs, CAT Scans, etc.  We were so
grateful for what they got accomplished while staying in our home
for two nights.  They are all delightful people and easy to have!
They left contracts at 7 hospitals throughout the mission.  They
are, Calamba Doctors Hospital, St. Frances Cabrini Medical
Center in Santo Tomas, Mary Mediatrix Medical Center in
Lipa City, San Pablo Community Hospital, Laguna Holy Family
Hospital in Santa Cruz, Our Lady of Caysasay Medical Center
in Lemery, and Bauan Doctors General Hospital.  We hope to
get contracts set up in Mindoro, Gumaca and Lucena next week.
They left four more contracts for us to take around to those
remaining hospitals.

Visit to Mindoro for Recommend Interviews April 2012

Before catching the boat to Mindoro, we stopped by to visit
Elder Pesamino and Elder Libutti in their apartment.  I think
they are happy with each other! :-)
Here is a picture of President with Elders Ah Wong & Pascua
in front of their house in Baco, Mindoro.

The Mindoro Zone Leaders on the doorstep of the Baco elders'
house...Elders Pascua (yes there are 2 Pascuas on the island!) and
Elder Navarro.  Elder Navarro is holding a Philippine broom used
for outdoor sweeping.
This is our AP's feeling really "astig" with these helmets and bikes.
They belong to the Baco elders, who are some of the first elders
in our mission to get bikes.  Roads are so narrow in most of our
areas so we haven't had bikes.  It has felt much safer to take
public transportation of tricycles, jeepneys or buses.  However,
some of the areas on Mindoro are spread out and public
transportation is not available sometimes in some of the areas.
You can see Elder Campbell in the background on the left.  In
front we have Elder Pascua (from Baco) Elder Navarro (Zone
Leader) and Elder Cortez (AP)

Visits to Two of Our Branches

This was a Sunday we spent in the very small branch of Ibaan,
March 18, 2012.  It was a surprise visit and the Branch was
so excited and happy to have us come and visit.  Elder and Sister
Packer came with us.  I am sorry we didn't get a picture with
some of the members or with our missionaries serving there,
Elders Orro and Cabacunan.
I was trying to get a really good picture of this guy and his Carabao
as we drove by him, but I missed the head!  I was too slow! This
was on our way to Ibaan.
This was another Branch we visited with the Packers on
April 1, 2012.  It is the Malinao Branch in the Lopez Stake.
You can see our elders on both ends in the front, Elders
Caubalejo and Nerza. President Peterson promised the elders that
if they got the attendance up to 100 members, we would come
and visit.  It was a wonderful experience with these beautiful,
humble saints that are so happy to have the gospel in their lives.
Many have been less-active and have returned to full fellowship.
These elders are humble, loving, and hard working.
We are so proud of them!
Here is one more picture in Malinao with our elders.
Elder Caubalejo, Elder Packer, Sister Packer,
President Peterson, Sister Peterson and Elder Nerza.
