Farwell to one of our Assistants!!

Desert of mango cake with the office Elders and Assistants to the President.  Elder Fonbuena's favorite desert of Rubi's.  We wanted to have him for dinner but he had other invitations so we were glad to get him for desert.  He was leaving the next morning...no other elders going with him!
Out front of the office with the office elders and AP's.  Elder Fonbuena is going home.  Left to right...Elder Jerusalem (AP), Elder Judd (financial office elder from Arizona), Elder Johnson (Elder Fonbuena's replacement), Elder Torres (materials office elder), Elder Fonbuena with President & me.
This was a hard day...saying good-bye to one of the Assistants to the President (AP), Elder Nathan Fonbuena.  We are going to miss him very much!  He was a great missionary...full of love for the people of the Philippines, for the Savior and for all the missionaries.  Besides that, he was our right arm.  He knew how to get anywhere in the mission and to Manila to pick-up or take missionaries and anywhere else we needed to go there...the temple, MTC, Area offices and the S&R (a store much like Costco).  We really love him and will miss him!  His dad is Filippino and his grandparents are too, but his mother is American.  So he had a special bond the people here.  He is from Utah and is going to go to BYU, Provo.

  2. It must be so emotional to get attached to the sweet missionaries and then to have to say good bye. We miss you both, I have so much to tell you, what would be the best place to write to you, let me know. Our love to you. Lary and Tere
