Zone Interviews—We started out with President’s counsel to the missionaries. He said, “You will only face your mission once. You will live in the shadow of it ever after.” He admonished them to honor their covenants by being obedient and “eye-single”. D&C 4:2 reads, “…serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength…” Sometimes we use our might and strength and forget to give our heart and mind to our service. He talked about Chapter 4 in PMG. He emphasized personal revelation, the difference of the Light of Christ and the Holy Ghost, the power of the Spirit in conversion, and learn to recognize the promptings of the Spirit. He knows that chapter and could teach from personal experience. When you are doing the best you can to teach by the Spirt, have confidence that the thoughts that are coming to you are personal revelation and you should act on it.
He emphasized the principle of following the less active or new converts through to the temple. We call it, “Dressed in White Twice”. Teach Chapter 3 lessons to the less active. Open the scriptures as you teach the hard things (Sabath Day, tithing, word of wisdom, reading the Book of Mormon, being offended, etc.) Some suggested scriptures were Alma22:12, Alma 18:36, D&C 9:5-7.
As President started interviewing the Assistants took all the missionaries to another room and did a workshop on Teaching with the Spirit and helping investigators and less-actives to recognize the Spirit. While they were doing their workshop, Sister Peterson (I) set up for her workshop. When the Assistants finished their workshop, the missionaries came back to the room I had set up. I taught them about “Using Clean, Filtered Water” and “Preparing and Eating Food that has been Prepared Sanitarily”. I taught them how to santitze their produce, their water, and their working area in the kitchen. I also did a quick cooking demonstration to show them how they could take time to cook nutritional sanitary meals for themselves in little time. It was a fun workshop. I brought a one-burner cooktop and a wok. We made Chopsuey & brown rice at the morning zone and Pansit noodles for the afternoon one. Both meals had lots of vegetables and I brought cooked chicken to put in each. It was masarap (meaning, delicious)!

While we were doing our interviews and workshop, they were doing their own workshop for the members there who were interested in learning more about preparing for finding employment, such as job interviews, creating a good resume, etc.
